Hyderabad has National Park for People with Special Needs at Louis Braille Flyover Old Malakpet, Hyderabad with the implementing agency, Ayesha Educational Society in partnership with GHMC has spend 2 crore to build this park and also gave materials worth 38 lakhs. To equip this place for the special needs children which includes Audiology testing lab, Braille printer ,physiotherapeutic equipment , psychological assessment tools, play therapy equipment etc.. It is the first of its kind in India to provide recreation and therapy services for special needs people under one roof. It started providing services after its grand inauguration The park was inaugurated on 5 th Jan, 2018, by Mr. K.Taraka Rama Rao, Honorable minister for I.T, MA & UD, along with other dignitaries like Mr. Asaduddin Owaisi, M.P. Hyderabad & President AIMIM, Mr. Ahmed Bin Abdullah Balala, M.L.A., Malakpet constituency, Mr. Mohammed Mahmood Ali, Deputy CM, Telangana, Mr. Bontu Ram Mohan, H.W Mayor Hyderabad, Mr. Mohammed Baba Fasiuddin, Deputy Mayor GHMC, Mr. Narsimha Reddy, Home Minister, Mr. Mahinder Reddy, Transport Minister, Mr.Vasudev Reddy, Chairman, Telangana Vikalangula Co-operative Corporation, Mr. Janardhan Reddy, Municipal Commissioner, Mrs. Shailaja, Director, Disabled Welfare Corporation.
National Park for People with Special Needs has mandatory ramp entrance at the main gate with barrier free environment and has a wheelchair track that runs across the park. The park has hygiene, safety, especially designed equipment and first class services for the special needs with various therapy blocks and beautiful amphi theatre which accommodates 300 people.
National Park for People with Special Needs provides free of Cost Therapies, Special Education, Sports Coaching and Pre Vocational training to people having various disabilities like hearing and speech impairment, intellectual disability, autism, physical disability, cerebral palsy, down’s syndrome etc. It provides services like psychological assessment, vocational training, Braille Training, auditory assessment, speech therapy, physiotherapy and rehabilitation services. GHMC is sponsoring this project. It has a dedicated team of rehabilitation counselors and therapists like physiotherapist, speech therapist, audiologist, psychologist, special educator, vocational and sports coach.
